The Operating System

Many laptops come preloaded with a Windows. Mac or Chrome OS, each offering a different user experience. They also affect the price of the laptop. If you like to experiment there are many customisable open source Operating Systems such as Linux you can download. This can cut down your cost. So, think about which OS you are comfortable with and exercise your choice.

The processor

The Central Processing Unit commonly called the processor, is an integral part of the laptop which determines its performance. The faster and sturdier the processor, the faster the laptop. Laptops with Intel and AMD processors are the most commonly available ones. Depending on your budget and the performance you seek choose any of the processors available in the market.

The screen size

Laptops are available in various screen sizes. If you are keen on playing a lot of games and designing posters or editing pictures. a larger screen size is recommended. However, a larger screen size can mean extra weight. While there are slim laptops with large screen sizes, these can be expensive. So, depending on your need, strike the ideal balance.

The touchpad and the keyboard

You will ideally be spending a lot of time typing on your laptop. Hence, the keyboard layout is essential. Look for keyboards that give you tactile feedback and don’t require too much effort to press. Ensure the keys have enough space between them and are backlit so that it is easier to type in a dim-lit environment. Similarly, ensure the touchpad is of ideal size and responsive.

The storage             

If you like to store a lot of heavy files such as movies, photographs and games on your laptop, you will need a laptop that offers greater storage in terms of the hard drive as well as the Random Access Memory. However, the higher the storage limit the costlier the laptop. Remember that cloud services, which let you store data online and can be accessed remotely, can be used to save up the internal storage in your laptop. Think and choose wisely.
