What is considered as the thinking machine?

You think, learn, and remember because you have a brain. You move because you have a brain. You feel, see, hear, and smell because you have a brain.

Your brain sits in your head, protected by your skull. Fluid inside your skull keeps your brain safe. It also gives your brain the nutrients it needs to work.

Your brain is divided into three important parts. These are the large cerebrum, the smaller cerebellum, and the stalk like brainstem.

The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain. It receives messages about the world around you. For example, it tells you when something hurts and tells your body what to do about those messages. When you feel pain, you may rub where it hurts.

The cerebellum gives you balance. It makes sure the parts of your body work together so you can move around without falling down. For example, it helps you ride a bike.

The brainstem is important too. It keeps your body running. It keeps your lungs breathing and your heart beating.

When you were born, your brain weighed less than 0.45 kg. By the time you turn six, your brain is nearly its full weight, about 1.3 kgs.
