The American Revolution resulted in the birth of a new nation. It brought about political changes as well as social changes. There was no place for the old idea of aristocracy in the new nation. Power was now in the hands of ordinary people and not the kings and queens.
Many states abolished slavery as the idea of equality gained strength and prominence. In the beginning, voting rights were given only to just a few. The laws were revised time and again so that more and more Americans would have the right to vote. Americans could choose the leaders who would make laws and govern them.
The American Revolution also impacted the international society. Be it the democrats in Belgium or the Vietnamese struggling against the French, the American Revolution served as a beacon for all those who were struggling against aristocratic rule. It also inspired many colonies of other European nations to fight for their independence.
