Which are the literary characters that children hate the most?

Templeton

One literary character that I hate the most is, Templeton, from the book “Charlotte’s Web”. He is a big barn rodent, who is mean and disliked by other farm animals as picks up fights with everyone. In fact, he’s so selfish that he doesn’t want to help save Wilbur’s life. He is lazy and does nothing besides searching for leftover food at the filthiest of places such as manholes or heaps of garbage. He is a glutton who eats greedily and then lies down on the floor with hands on his stomach. He helps Wilbur and Charlotte only when he was offered food in return. Towards the end of the story, I can see some reformation in him when he helps save Charlotte’s egg sack but that was also temporary and he went to his usual self-centered ways in the end.

Dolores Umbridge

One character I hate the most is none other than, Dolores Umbridge from the book “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’. She tries to take over the whole school with her strict, children-hating, unfair and greedy personality. She becomes so unbearable when Dumbledore goes away from Hogwarts making Dolores the in-charge of the school. Dolores hates Hogwarts and its students so much that she makes ridiculously strict rules such as not allowing students to do magic, not permitting them to be within six feet of each other, checking everyone’s mail and many other things. She draws sadistic pleasure in giving unreasonably cruel detentions. She forces Harry to carve I must not tell lies into his own flesh. I believe she is a very evil character of “Harry Potter” series and that’s why I hate her the most.

John Harrison

The literary character I hate the most Mr. John Harrison, Rusty’s uncle in the novel “A Room on the Roof’ by Ruskin Bond. Mr. Harrison, an Englishman, lives in Dehra with his wife, an English missionary and his nephew Rusty. Harrison treats Rusty unkindly. He forbids Rusty from visiting an Indian bazaar in their neighbourhood in Dehra, just because it is filled with Indians. Harrison calls it a place of dirty people. Once Harrison beats up Rusty because he celebrates an Indian festival with his Indian friends Somi, Suri and Ranbir. A frustrated Rusty, fights back and beats up Harrison too. He leaves Harrison’s house after this incident. Mr. Harrison does not care at all. So, I think Mr. Harrison lacks decency and sensitivity towards Rusty and the Indian people.

Shakuni

One literary character I hate the most is Shakuni from Mahabharata, written by Maharshi Vyasa. Shakuni was one of the reasons why the great battle ensued. He was the main antagonist. He was the brother of Gandhari and maternal uncle of Duryodhan. It is believed that Shakuni was the mastermind behind the battle of Kurukshetra, I hate him because he was greedy and selfish and wanted to destroy Bhishma Pitamaha and Arya Vrat.

Dr. Grief

In the second book of the Alex Rider series “Point Blanc”, I hated the villain Dr. Grief. The plot of the book is very good. Dr. Grief, a South African surgeon who finds out a way to clone humans. He masterminds a plan to start a school in the French Alps. He admits the most spoilt and rich children into the school and clones them. He then trains his clones and forms an army. He wants to use his clones to manipulate the rich and to meet his demands.

Pat O’Sullivan

One literary character I hate the most is Patricia “Pat” O’Sullivan from the book series “St. Clare’s” by Enid Blyton. She is hasty in making decisions, and most of the time they backfire on her. She is quite stubborn when she makes up her mind and never goes back on her word. What I dislike about her is that most of the time she blames the wrong people. Whenever Pat blames someone, people unconditionally support her. No one ever blames Pat. I think Blyton is biased towards the protagonists, she doesn’t give much thought to the point of view of other characters.

The Guv’nor

The literary character that I hate the most is the grim-faced Guvnor in the book “Five Go Down to the Sea” from Enid Blyton’s “Famous Five” series. I hate him because he is awful. He wrecks ships by flaring out false light from the Cornish coast at stormy nights and smuggles its goods. He uses his title as the lordship of the Barnies to hide his wrongdoings. He hides smuggled drugs, that cost an arm and a leg, inside Clopper, a comical costume horse used in the shows. Fortunately, his true face is revealed by the Famous Five and Mr. Penruthlan, the police detective after unravelling the fact he hid the valuable drugs inside Clopper.

Draco Malfoy

The literary character that I hate the most is Draco Malfoy from the “Harry Potter” series. Right from the first time they meet, both Harry and Malfoy don’t like each other. Professor Snape likes Malfoy and supports him. Once Malfoy asks Harry to a duel with him at midnight. Malfoy deliberately doesn’t go to the place where the duel was to take place. Harry and his friend Ron reach the place but Malfoy doesn’t turn up. Instead, Snape shows up at the place and Harry and Ron barely manage to escape. I hate Malfoy because he always troubles Harry. Although he isn’t the main villain in this story, I hate him the most.

Napolean

The literary character I hate the most is Napolean from George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”. Along with Snowball, he gets the idea for animal farm from Major, before the old pig’s death. Since pigs are more intelligent and educated than the other animals (in the book), Napolean constantly exploits other animals and starts accumulating resources for himself and his progeny. In order to establish his dictatorship, he drives Snowball away from the farm and then starts building up trade relations with humans. Humans were declared kosher by the animals earlier but by taking advantage of their naivete and innocence he makes the idea acceptable. While other animals live outside in the barn, he and his pig brethren live in the human’s house and start abusing the rules they first established. He wears human clothes, sleeps on a comfortable bed, establishes a ruling class and in the end becomes the very thing he sought to destroy.

Severus Snape

The literary character I hate the most is undoubtedly is Severus Snape. He is a fictional character created by J.K Rowling in the “Harry Potter” series. He is an exceptionally skilled wizard whose sarcastic, controlled exterior conceals deep emotions and anguish. He first appears in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. Snape is a teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is the head of Slytherin house. He always supports Draco Malfoy and his gang whenever there is a fight between Malfoy and Harry. Snape studied in Hogwarts with Harry’s parents and always disliked James Potter, Harry’s father. Sometimes I feel like he is helping Harry, but sometimes I feel he is troublesome. In “Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone”, I thought that he was the one who was trying to steal the stone, but it turns out that he was trying to protect Harry. And the thing that amazed me more is that he turns out to be the half-blood prince. I think he is good as well as bad.

Gandhar Naresh

The literary character that I hate the most is Shakuni mama from the epic “Mahabharat’. He was born in Gandhara to its king Subala. He had a sister named Gandhari. He was unhappy with Gandhari’s marriage to Dhritarashtra, the blind prince of Hastinapura. Shakuni thought that the marriage was an insult to Gandhara. So, he incited hatred between the Kauravas and Pandavas. He wanted a full-scale civil war between the branches of the Kuru clan, which would destroy the whole clan. Portrayed as an extremely intelligent, crafty and devious man, he is often credited as the mastermind behind the Kurukshetra war. He incited war by advising an adolescent Duryodhana to mix poison into Bheema’s food twice. He hired Purochana kill the Pandavas in the house of wax. He arranged the game of dice between Kauravas and Pandavas which was responsible for Draupadi’s humiliation. Before the war, he advised Duryodhana to feed Shalya’s army and put Shalya in his debt, making it compulsory for him to fight on the side of Kauravas. In the end, he died by the hands of Sahdev on the 18th day of the Mahabharata war.

Lord Cassius

The literary character I hate the most is Lord Cassius Sencen, from the book series “Keeper of the Lost Cities” by Shannon Messenger. Sophie Foster, an elf, along with her friends tries to stop rebels from disrupting the peace of the Lost Cities. Lord Cassius Sencen, is the father of Sophie’s friend. Keefe Sencen. The only similarities between father and son are their blonde hair, blue eyes, and the connection to the Black Swan (a rebel group helping the Lost Cities).

Lord Cassius is cold, humourless and rigid and expects the same from his son. Keefe on the other hand is completely opposite. Lord. Cassius is also proud, and demands to be appreciated by everyone, since he holds a high status in the nobility. Lord Cassius has two extra homes, where he escapes from his family. His parenting methods are dreadful.

To me, a father is somebody who is loving and supportive personality that a child can look up to. But Lord Cassius abuses, berates and gives his son a sense of low self esteem. He never appreciates Keefe’s amazing artistic talent; instead pushes him to study harder, despite Keefe’s photographic memory. Above all, Lord Cassius keeps claiming he does this for the greater good of Keefe. I hope that in future editions, he understands what he does is wrong and changes his demeanour for the better.

Emperor Nero

The literary character I hate the most would probably be Emperor Nero from “The Trials of Apollo” series by Rick Riordan. Nero’s aim is to destroy the oracles. The demigods are unable to go on quests without prophecies and are therefore not able to save the oracles. He trains 12 demigods (after probably killing their mortal parents) to represent the 12 Olympians while he represents Kronos – the all powerful king who rules the world. One of these selected demigods is Meg McCaffrey, who reveals that she was often told to kill people for entertainment and as a punishment for them, when she was in Nero’s household.

Luguselwa, a Gaul, was almost killed by Nero. She was a fierce fighter, a dimachaeri, a person who fought with two blades. Nero had both her hands cut off by accusing her of being a traitor, who helped Meg escape. She was left without any medical aid (her wrists were bandaged sloppily) in a luxurious cell with Apollo. Nero has a way with words. Apollo remarks that Nero would say that the floor was the ceiling with such conviction. you might actually start believing it! Now that’s evil! Nero’s a heartless megalomaniac villain, so it’s nearly impossible not to hate him.

Kaspar

I hate Kaspar from “Ark Angel” in the “Alex Rider” series. He is a freedom fighter who has evil plans. He has a company named ‘Force Three’ which wants to save wildlife and resources. But Kaspar kills anyone who comes in his way. He tries to kill Alex also by putting him in an abandoned building and setting it on fire.
