The Four Corners is a region of the United States where the boundaries of the four states of Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado meet. The quadripoint is marked by a monument in granite and bronze. It is the only place where you can be in all four states at the same time. This region in the Southwestern United States was originally Indian land before being claimed by Spain. After Mexico became independent from Spain, it became the owner of this land. However, Mexico ceded the property over to the United States in the mid-1800s during the Mexican-American War. In the years that followed, territories were broken up into states, and the 4 Corners region became the first of its kind in the nation.
