Which country is the world’s leading banana grower?

Banana, a fruit extensively produced in Asia, Latin America, and Africa, is a well-known fruit that is often utilized in cooking. Bananas are nutritious and pleasant fruit that comes in hundreds of varieties with varying flavors, sizes, and colors. Normally, while bananas are no longer kept fresh, they are grown and traded locally. Banana production worldwide exceeds 148 million tonnes.

With about 30 million tonnes produced yearly, India is the world’s largest producer of bananas, with the majority grown in south Indian states. After India, the major banana producers are China, the Philippines, Ecuador, and Indonesia. Furthermore, India produces more than China, the Philippines, and Ecuador combined. After rice, wheat, and maize, bananas are the most eaten fruit and the fourth-largest produced food. The top banana exporters are Ecuador, the Philippines, Costa Rica, and Colombia.

India is the top country by bananas production in the world. As of 2019, bananas production in India was 30.5 million tonnes that accounts for 26.23% of the world’s bananas production. The top 5 countries (others are China, Indonesia, Brazil, and Ecuador) account for 54.37% of it. The world’s total bananas production was estimated at 116 million tonnes in 2019.
