Where is clownfish found?

Clownfish is a fish inhabiting the Indian and Pacific oceans, the Red Sea and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It lives in the warm water, near the coral reefs.

There are 28 species of clownfish and they come in many colours and covered in white stripes. They share a symbiotic relationship with sea anemones. While they eat their leftovers and use their venomous tentacles to protect themselves from predators, anemones use them for preening their tentacles, removing parasites and to increase circulation of water.

It is a territorial animal and aggressive by nature. It attacks other clownfish and divers if they try to approach the anemones. It communicates by making popping and clicking noises.
