I know of people who feel so proud of acquiring exquisite objects, going to quite unheard of lengths to acquire that item of their liking. This is further heightened by the pleasure of gathering that they get from this; the hobby of collecting keeps them motivated because of its unique characteristics relative to the items they possess.
The hobby of collecting consists of acquiring specific items of one’s choice. You can either start your own exquisite stamp collection or silverware collection – it all depends on you! The hobby of collecting thematic stamps has been a popular one for generations. There are innumerable other items of outstanding artistic and documentary value that belonged to the past which you can collect. A collector’s choice depends on the rarity, exquisiteness, price and quality of that particular item.
Yet another common hobby of collecting is that of watches. There are many watch brands with exquisite details. These antique watches are worthy of admiration and need to be saved from extinction. Paintings, too, are considered exquisite items. Many collectors impress their friends and other collectors with the grace and beauty of rare paintings. These paintings have their own splendour and representativeness.
Antiques are items that must be at least 100 years old. Some are known as the Bohemian Collection and others. as the Japanese Collection. A Bohemian Collection may consist of exquisite handmade bags and cushions wherein each item is matchless and distinctive. It may also have colourful designs with embroidery, pompoms and tassels.
People with artistic tastes for textiles and decorative arts are into the collection of beautiful things that can include fine gold zari work and exquisite wooden artefacts.
Then there’s the Vintage Collection which may consist of hanging oil lamps with designs of peacocks and elephants. It may also comprise gorgeous hanging brass planters with peacock handles.
Jewellery also makes for a convenient and easy collection. Some of the other key items in the Vintage Collection could also include exquisite pieces of jewellery. Dresses made of the most exquisite fabrics have played a crucial part in the history of humanity. There is joy in adding to the collection, appraising a new addition and admiring its unique characteristics.
A collector’s item also includes rare Chinese vases, beautifully-embroidered caps and silver cutlery with a practical aspect. The Sacred Texts and rare books are also considered as exquisite items and one can collect them as well.
A collector’s prized collection may include items of gold, silver, bronze, commemorative medals, torches, honorary signs, cups, figurines and even prize-winners’ diplomas! Some homeowners are even into collecting bottles of wine, while collecting coins is a hobby loved by many.
Whatever the item, each collector is extremely passionate about his/her hobby and spends a lifetime on it. There’s a deep psychology behind collecting exquisite items. The earlier the production year, the more valuable the game is to collectors. Many different factors motivate people to become collectors but one of the main ones is that it’s a fun and low-pressure hobby.
