My ultimate aim is to become a neurologist

I am currently in Std X. My ultimate aim is to become a neurologist but I want to do my graduation from AIIMS, Delhi. Please guide me about the AIIMS examination and what, exactly to study for it, and also the best colleges for PG course in neurology.

To do an MBBS from AIIMS, you need to first appear in NEET UG- National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. This is a computer based test for three hours and questions are based on class 11 and 12 level Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

To prepare for NEET, you should first ensure a thorough study of NCERT books. After that refer to reference books, coaching material and other guides.

Then take mock tests and solve NEET sample papers and past years’ question papers to get familiar with the nature of the exam.

Neurology is the medical specialty which focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the brain and nervous system. In order to become a neurosurgeon, you must have a MBBS degree, followed by an M.S. in general neurosurgery and then an M.Ch. in Neurosurgery (this is a 5-year course).

Some of the institutes offering this course are: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi; National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore; Christian Medical College, Vellore; JIPMER Puducherry.
