How many films did Ronald Reagan make before he became President?

Long before he became President of the United States, Ronald Reagan earned a living in a variety of ways, one of which was as a radio announcer.

In 1937, however, Ronald Reagan became an actor when he signed a contract with Warner Brothers. Ironically his first role was as a radio announcer. Later films were to cast him in a variety of parts, from secret agent and army corporal to football player and pianist. Reagan made several films for Warner Brothers before the war broke out, when he joined the Army Air Force.

With the fighting over, Ronald Reagan returned to a $1,000,000 film contract. In all, he made a total of 53 movies before leaving Hollywood to pursue a political career. While he featured in more films than many other actors, Ronald Reagan will probably be best remembered for his two terms as President of the US rather than for his acting.
