What is Tap Tap wristband?

Tap Tap wristbands pair up to bring you and a loved one closer together. Tap it and your special friend feels a gentle vibration in his/her paired wristband, wherever the two of you may be. The silicon wristband holds a plastic module, the brain of the TapTap. A capacitive sensor and an accelerometre sense the taps. To use it, download the app and connect it to your email along with the email of the person wearing the other wristband. A cool feature – tap the screen and your fingerprints appear on your partner’s smartphone! LED lights alert you to any missed taps or a low battery. The device works with Android smartphones with Bluetooth 2.1 and above, and the iPhone 4S and newer. Creators Woodenshark hope that it can also be used as an activity or sleep tracker, smart alarm, virtual DJ, game controller and more. Price: $130 for a pair.

The device-side SDK (software development kit) for TapTap lets developers get accelerometer and gyroscope data from the wristband for integration with game control, media playback, virtual DJ scratching, fitness apps, you name it. For example, the company behind the device, Woodenshark, is working with Shadow, an app that helps you track dream state activity. At your peak dream state, Shadow can tell TapTap to vibrate and wake you up so that you can remember and write down your insane nighttime genius moments.
