Which are the hobbies that make some people tick?

Bugs in the arena

In Japan, bug-fighting is a serious hobby. Youths find and train worthy bugs and pit them against one another in a plastic arena. They go as far as filming the entire fight and making the videos available for others interested in this hobby.

The joy of laundry

Admittedly there are those in this world who actually enjoy doing laundry so much so that it makes a great hobby for them. Yes, apparently, a group of people are a part of the Vintage Washing Machine Club. The 3000 odd members not only own really old washing machines, they are kind enough to share them with fellow enthusiasts, so that everyone can see the machines in action and gasp in pure joy.

For those who love stuffed toys…

Exactly how much do you love your stuffed toy? If the answer is ‘heaps’, then you must already know about ToyVoyagers, a company that specializes in arranging memorable holidays, for your toy. Not only will you be able to get regular updates on how much your toy is enjoying the vacation, you have the option to ask for your toy to be sent home ASAP, if you’re missing it too much!

Photo-bombing as a fantastic hobby

Most of us might shy away from news cameras if we happen to spot one across the road, but not Paul Yarrow. The man actively looks out for reports on live news reporting, and makes sure that he is present somewhere in the background while the reporter rattles away.

Giving vehicles a makeover

A Taiwanese gentleman took up a unique hobby after retirement – tattooing vehicles. He is passionate about virtuous Buddhist texts and decided that it would be an awesome idea to tattoo them across all the vehicles he owns. While most members in his family are against his hobby, his grandson, however, has promised to buy him a bus when he grows up, exclusively for tattooing!

When a ball is no longer a ball

Nearly forty years ago, a man decided to give his old baseball a coat of paint. It was just the beginning that baseball has gone on to have 22,894 coats of paints (and counting!) since then. The baseball is now a 3500 pound obese tourist attraction that looks more like an oversized orange than anything else. Anybody can give it yet another coat of paint, provided it’s not the same as the previous colour.

What powerful minds do

While some of us find it a big enough chore using a fork to shove: noodles into our mouths, there are others who think differently. They have sharpened their minds enough to concentrate on a fork and bend it through sheer force of the mind alone!
