Which are the unusual souvenirs?

Finger sticking good!

Everybody loves videogames, but Tuttuki Bako from Japan is so unique that it makes it a smashing souvenir to take back home or gift someone. The cubic game device comes with a hole to poke sensors) as a part of controlling pixelated creature inside. It gets better from there… after you manage to touch it there are more mini games to enjoy. Best of all, if you’re not playing any games, you can still use it as an interactive alarm clock. How cool is that?

Coffee with a twist

With the official title of being the most expensive coffee in the world, ‘Kopi Luwak’ is a nice buy if you’re in Indonesia. What sets this coffee apart is how it is produced from the poop of a creature called the palm civet! This cat-like creature is literally the main producer of this coffee- they eat the ripe coffee berries and expel them out as faeces. This is collected, washed, dried, roasted and packed for a price of nearly $1000 for a kilo of this one-of-its-kind coffee powder. Remember to ensure buying it from farms that deal in ethical practices and fair treatment of civets.

Sticky delight

Jam on toast? That’s so boring. Add a daring new twist to your breakfast with tar syrup specially brought back from Finland. Made from pine sap, the smoky strong thick syrup is said to smell like tar pitch used for sealing nautical ropes. Ah, how utterly divine! If you’re slightly less adventurous just bring back a bar of tar soap instead.

Beastly surprise

If you visited Scandinavia, what will remain etched in your memory is probably all the breathtaking landscapes and scenic beauty. But that’s no reason to stop yourself from buying a troll doll or two with the signature shocking matt of hair, sloppy grin and scary eyes. Imagine the thrill of keeping the trolls on your bedside table and seeing them in your dreams!

Water at its finest

MaHaLo water is what you should bring back from Hawaii to impress everyone at home. It’s not often that you get to taste desalinated super pure, pollutant-free water pumped from 3000 feet under the ocean. Apparently, it has some trace minerals that are good for you and hard to find in any other food we eat. So, there you have it – even Mum is going to be impressed by this.

Capturing the spirit of NYC

What better way to bring back what New York represents than some canned air! Believe it or not, this really exists! If somebody is eager to experience the spirit of New York, all you have to do is open the can and let them experience the goodness as if they were transported back there.
