What is Tangi.co app?

Google is the latest tech giant to launch a short video-making app with Tangi, which is focussed on creativity and the Do It Yourself (DIY) space. The handiwork of Area 120, Google’s in-house lab for experimental projects, the name is inspired by the words TeAch aNd Give and ‘tangible’ – things you can make. “Our platform’s goal is to help people learn to craft, cook and create with quick one-minute videos,” said Tangi founder, Coco Mao. Users can share a re-creation of things tried out with the ‘Try It’ feature, which helps build a community between creators and their fans. The ‘Upload’ feature is restricted to only a few users for now, and the app has launched selectively on iOS and the web. Viewers can filter videos by category (art, cooking, DIY, fashion, beauty and lifestyle) or scroll down a continuous homepage.

“Whether you love crafting, cooking, cosmetics or clothing, Tangi has 60-second videos to help you try something new—and a place to share it back too. You can also share a re-creation of things you tried out with Tangi’s “Try It” feature, which helps build a community between creators and their fans,” Tangi’s team leader, Coco Mao said in a blog post.

While the app is currently only available on the Apple App Store for iOS devices, others can use Tangi through its website. The platform is not accepting any videos currently and only shows content from the creators that Google has partnered with. However, users can join a queue to be notified about new registrations being open.
