I want to pursue a career in the field of nutrition

I am in Std XII (Science) and I want to pursue a career in the field of nutrition. What are the main subjects to take up, duration of courses, etc.? What are the qualifications required and exams to be appeared for in this field? What are the good job options in this field in India according to pay package? Is the nutrition field a stable option in India? Please suggest some good colleges that offer this course.

The basic qualification for becoming a nutritionist is B.Sc. in Home Science. However, preference is given to candidates with a post-graduate course in dietetics and public health nutrition. The post-graduate diploma course, is spread over one academic year with a compulsory three-month internship working in a hospital, under a qualified dietician. M.Sc. Home Science is a two-year degree course.

Nutritionists with post-graduate qualifications can earn between Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 in their first job. Those working as consultants charge on a session basis, ranging anywhere between Rs 1,000-2,000 per session.
