Aisle
The word is used to describe a passage between rows of seats in a theatre, train church etc., or between rows of shelves in a store.
Origin:
The word finds its origins in late Middle English ele, ile, from Old French ele, from Latin ala, meaning ‘wing’. The spelling was changed in the 17th Century due to confusion with the word isle.
