Primordial
This adjective refers to something first created or developed, or existing in or persisting from the beginning (as of a solar system or universe). It also refers to something that’s fundamental and primary.
Origin:
The word primordial comes from the combination of the Latin words primus (meaning first) and ordiri (meaning to begin). The Latin word primordium refers to origin. Apparently, when it entered the English language during the late 14th Century, primordial was used as a synonym of primeval. The word was associated with discussions on Earth’s origins too. Gradually, it also came to refer to something basic.
Usage:
These are certainly primordial human joys.
