Fledgling
The word fledgling is used to refer to a young bird that has just fledged or acquired feathers. The word is also used to denote a person or organisation that is immature, underdeveloped or inexperienced.
Origin
Fledgling is arrived by adding the suffix ling to the word fledge. Fledge can be traced back to the 1560s and is derived from an Old English adjective, which in turn is from a Proto-Germanic word.
Usage
Despite the fledgling nature of her career, she has already made a great name for herself.
