This plural noun refers to photographers, including freelancers, who follow famous people everywhere they go. in order to take photographs of them for newspapers and magazines.

Origin:

Pronounced pah-puh-raht-see, the word paparazzi is a classic case of art inspiring life. It is said to have originated in 1961, from Paparazzo, the Italian surname of the freelance photographer in Federico Fellini’s 1959 film “La Dolce Vita”. The surname is apparently common in Calabria, a region in south Italy. One theory is that director Fellini borrowed it from the travel book “By the lonian Sea”, in which the name of a hotel owner is Coriolano Paparazzo.
