Who is Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin?

Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin was born on May 19, 1985 in Akure, Ondo state in Nigeria. She was educated at the Nigerian Institute of Information Technology (NIIT) and attended the University of Lagos. She graduated with a BSc in Business Administration.

She is the founder and chief executive officer of Pearls Africa Youth Foundation – a non-profit organization focused on educating women in underprivileged communities. The organization provides access to technology, develops proficiency and enables mentoring for the purpose of economic independence of these women.

Programs such as GirlsCoding, GC Mentors, Girlsln-STEM and Empowered Hands are available to women, over 400 of whom have already been trained. The foundation aims to bridge the gap between rich and poor as well as lessen the gender divide.

Abisoye dreams of women to not just be consumers of technology and products but also its creators. In November 2018, she was named one of the top ten CNN Heroes. She was also listed as one of the BBC’s 100 Women in Tech.
