Do birds have eyelashes?

Eyelashes are not common in birds. However, there are a few species of birds like the great hornbill that have eyelashes. But instead of hairs, these are actually bristles made of contour feathers. These feathers still protect their eyes from dust and debris.

The common ostrich (Struthio camelus) is native to the savanna and desert of central and southern Africa. Throughout history, ostrich feathers have been worn by royalty and knights. The ancient Egyptians, Assyrians and Babylonians raised ostriches and often traded their feathers. The common ostrich is a large nonflying bird known for their long, thin necks and large eyes. The ostrich eye is about 2 inches across with long, swooping eyelashes.

Most animals grow old and die. But there are a few exceptions such as the hydra. A tiny, soft-bodied freshwater animal, the tentacle hydra remains youthful because of its regenerative abilities. It carries powerful stem cells which are capable of continuous division, making the hydra renew its body with fresh cells.
