Checking it constantly for a text, WhatsApp? Don’t have the willpower to switch it off? There’s a cure the Blokket puts handsets out of reach, forcing you (or your mobile-mad buddy) to re-join the real world. Wrap a cell phone inside the pouch-like Blokket, which is made of a silver and nylon material that blocks cellular signals making sure that your handset receives no signal at all.
The Blokket features two phrases, “goodbye phone, hello world” or “my phone is off for you”. This works as a courtesy gesture to let those around you know you value their company more than your mobile.
When it comes to smartphones, a better alternative is probably to turn off the phone, or at least activate airplane mode; but that just doesn’t work with data storage devices that are actually powered and activated by the electromagnetic field that initiates communications with a passport or credit card, for example.
Blokket claims to block 99.7% of radio frequencies. It is amazingly low-tech in its construction, while carrying out its high-tech mission of keeping a few sensitive items “off-the-radar” so to speak, and brings to mind the Stealth Tablet Envelope.
