Use your face instead of credit card to pay

Forget credit cards and cash; even waving your cell phone seems old-fashioned compared to Finnish company Uniqul’s facial recognition. All you do is look into the camera as it identifies you using biometrical data and pulls up your info, including stored credit card, PayPal or bank details.

Uniqul says its military-grade security makes it perfectly safe and that the technology can even distinguish between identical twins. Uniqul says its patent-pending technology reduces time spent on transactions to less than five seconds.

According to Pisarenko, “the face is a PIN and it’s more like a complete way to identify a person.”

“But in some cases where the system is not 100 per cent accurate, it will ask a person to input their PIN as security,” he said.
There is no payment card involved, nor is a mobile or wallet needed.

Customers sign up to the technology by registering their identification and bank details.

Once the items are scanned through the customers’ details will flash up on a screen and they click “OK” to confirm the transaction.
