Twitter may let you edit your tweets but only if you are ready to pay them money

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey asked users what changes they would like to see Twitter make in 2017. The one thing most users wanted was the ability to edit tweets. Dorsey replied saying that, “a form of edit is def needed,” and “we’re thinking a lot about it”.

Dorsey had hinted in 2020 that Twitter might never get an edit button as he wants to preserve Twitter’s original design which was primarily an SMS, text message service. “We started as an SMS, text message service. And as you all know, when you send a text, you can’t really take it back. We wanted to preserve that vibe, that feeling, in the early days, he said. He said that while enabling the edit option would allow users to fix their typos, the users can also edit their tweets to mislead people. So, these are all the considerations. We’ll probably never do it, he said.

Twitter had rolled out the Twitter Blue subscription plan last month in Australia and Canada. The subscription includes features like Undo Tweet, Bookmark Folders, Reader Mode, customizable icons on the app and themes. The plan has been priced at $3.49 CAD and $4.49 AUD per month in Canada and Australia respectively. “We intend to learn from these first two markets, iterate and improve the product as we go along,” the company said. Although the feature has not been launched in India yet, the price of the subscription was spotted on the app at Rs 269 per month. The price no longer appears on the app store.
