Why are so many revolving doors in buildings?

Many large, high-rise buildings in the west have revolving glass doors at the entrance.

What’s the reason?

Basically, revolving doors are meant to save energy in cold countries, especially in winter.

In tall buildings, warm air being lighter than cold air, it is constantly rising up the elevator shafts. At ground-level, cold air rushes in to replace it. If you opened an ordinary door, a blast of air would blow in, and the heating system would have to work harder to warm the air. Revolving doors prevent this loss of energy by not providing a clear pathway from the outside of the building to the inside.
