What is the meaning, origin, and usage of the word ‘Decrepit’?

Meaning: Decrepit is used as an adjective to mean dilapidated, rickety or worn-out buildings. It can also be used to describe a person who is lacking vitality, who is infirm or feeble because of age.

Origin: The term derives from Old French decrepit, from Latin decrepitus meaning “very old or infirm” from (de- “down” + crepitus “rattle or creak”)

Usage: The city should immediately replace decrepit buildings to prevent houses from collapsing in the rain.
