When was the first film made?

Today, going for a film is an everyday affair. But did you know that before 1891 there were no films? In that year, the very successful American inventor Edison introduced a film showing device. Sequences of pictures were shown to one person at a time on this device. One had to turn a handle to go to the next sequence. These devices created quite a sensation, and there were long queues to see these films. The first films shown by a projector were made by two French brothers called the Lumiere brothers in 1895. Their first public screening of movies at which admission was charged, was held on December 28th, 1895, at a Paris café.  This history-making presentation featured ten short films, each film, when hand cranked through a projector, ran for approximately 46 seconds. Now families could see a film together on a screen, and soon people were flocking to cinemas all over the world. The director has a very important role. He analyzes the script, visualizes each scene, and guides the actors and the production crew so that every scene creates the maximum impact    Then there is the unit production manager who is responsible for the scheduling, budgeting selecting crew members and arranging for permits to shoot at different places.  The casting director is the person who decides which actor should play which role and negotiates contracts. The main stars though, are usually chosen by the producer and director.   It is the actors who bring the film to life as they play the different roles. Relying on the script, the director’s vision, and their own feeling for the role, they make the characters come alive. Art director, music director, etc. also have important role in film making.
