I want to be a dentist

I'm in Std X and I have decided to take Biology after this. I want to be a dentist. Which are the good colleges in Mumbai and what should I do for that?

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is the minimum eligibility to enter into this field.

 This is a 4-year programme followed by one year of internship. There are many dental colleges in Maharashtra. Some of these are: Padmashree Dr D. Y. Admission to colleges in Maharashtra is through MHT-CET (www.dmer.org). You will get admission depending on your score and preference given. CBSE also conducts an all-India examination, namely, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) (http://cbseneet. nic.in) for admission to other dental colleges all over India.

I would like to pursue a career in dentistry

I am in Std X and would like to pursue a career in dentistry. What are the courses involved in this field? Please suggest some good colleges in India and abroad.

To become a dentist, you need to do Bachelor's in Dental Sciences (BDS) after 10+2 with PCB. Admission to various medical colleges is through NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) and some other all-India level tests. Some of the good colleges in India are Nair Hospital Dental College, Mumbai; Institute of Medical Sciences, Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi; Sri Ramachandra Dental College, Chennai; Maulana Azad Dental College and Hospital, Delhi.
